ISTE Standards for Educators

Effective teachers model and apply the ISTE Standards for Students (Standards•S) as they design, implement, and assess learning experiences to engage students and improve learning; enrich professional practice; and provide positive models for students, colleagues, and the community. All teachers should meet these standards and performance indicators.

Throughout your 21things4teachers learning journey you will experience resources and techniques where the ISTE Standards for Educators and best practice strategies form a framework for your learning.

The International Society for Technology in Education created the ISTE Standards for Teachers in 2008. The emphasis is on using technology to learn and teach. They have been revised in 2017 and are now the ISTE Standards for Educators.

The ISTE Standards for Educators are your road map to helping students become empowered learners. These standards will deepen your practice, promote collaboration with peers, challenge you to rethink traditional approaches and prepare students to drive their own learning.

2. How do I rate my Proficiency at meeting ISTE Standards for Educators?

The following scale is a preview of the one that was developed by the 21things Project team in 2008 (McCarthy, Miracola, Parker, White) to assist educators in determining technology proficiency for each Thing, based on the ISTE-Standards for Teachers, Administrators, and Students. Use the rubric in your 21t4 Basics document to rate your current proficiency.

21t4Basics Assignment: You are asked to identify How I would rate myself based on the ISTE-Teacher Standards at this point using the 5 point scale.
