Digital Age

A shift is occuring in K-12 education, where classroom teachers are moving away from teaching basic technology skills to a digital age culture of technology immersion.

Tremendous strides have been made over the past five years, where the need to teach basic technology skills like word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, Internet and email has significantly decreased. Fast forward to now, where Kindergarten students come knowing how to use an iPad or portable mobile devices. Middle School students have access to video gaming systems and hand-helds. High School students are connected through social media and their Smart Phones, where "library research" is done by"Googleing It".

This paradigm shift from basic skills to digital immersion has changed the landscape for educators. In this Module you will explore digital age teaching and learning, where instructional time can now be spent using technology rather than teaching it.
